ODE TO THE MOUNTAIN | “Souvenir of Jotunheimen” – An ode to the mountains and wide open spaces

Fall 2016, I hit the road in my van, Platon, to explore the vast wilderness of Norway. Three months of wandering, magnificent roads, and grandiose landscapes. Among them, Jotunheimen National Park. Alone facing the immensity, surrounded by the soft colors of autumn, I felt a profound sense of freedom and harmony. I even wrote these few words in my notebook:

“This morning, I feel lucky. Lucky to wake up in this immensity, to witness this spectacle of autumn colors. Lucky to put on my shoes and wander along the paths.” »

It is this vibrant and intimate memory that I invite you to discover through this leather artwork, a unique and intuitive creation inspired by topographical maps, a precious accessory for explorers.

Created from scraps of leather from my leatherwork, this piece is much more than a work of art:

A tribute to the mountains and Norway
An invitation to travel and escape from home
A manifesto for responsible creation that enhances the material
A reflection on the creative process, from inspiration to the finished product, including waste management.

Inspired by the topographical map of Jotunheimen National Park, each curve of this piece highlights the texture of the leather and the poetry of the reliefs. A way to honor these landscapes that have given me so much, and to share with you, this feeling of freedom.
